I was thrilled to meet Artist Amy Wagner and see her extraordinary artwork at an Art Festival in South Portland, Maine. And to learn more about her sensational artworks.

ABOUT AMY

Being a native Mainer has instilled in me a great appreciation for this state's abundance of wildlife and natural beauty. Living in Scarborough, close to the ocean and marsh provides me with endless inspiration, which I translate into a distinctly unique art form.

As a medium, working with hand-dyed hemp rope allows me to create a sense of movement and dimension in my art pieces.

The planning and creation of each work is truly a labor of love. I begin with an image. From there, a sketch is made, a color palette is chosen, and the process of hand-dying the hemp rope begins. Once preparations are complete, I start the meticulous job of cutting and assembling. I love how the placement of each strand slowly brings my work to life.
